How can the program help me?

The SFPY program is about helping you and your parents learn to listen to each other and to communicate better. Through the sessions, you’ll do activities and have discussions that will give you the chance to voice your opinions and share your concerns.

What can I expect when I participate?

The program lasts nine weeks. In this time, you’ll talk about things like communication, praise, anger and stress and other things that affect your relationship with your parents.

Each week’s session has three parts. The first hour is spent eating a healthy family meal with all the other participants. In the second hour, the parents and teens will split up to talk separately.
Everything you say in these special teen sections will be confidential (the leaders
won’t tell your parents). In the last hour, you’ll all come together again to
talk about the topics and skills you’ve just explored separately.

“My parents make more of an effort to support me.”

“What I liked was getting to be with kids in my own age
group and hearing how much their lives were like mine.”
